Transitional Improvements: Helping Homeless & Formerly Incarcerated Grocery Store Shooting; 1 Injured, 1 in Custody

“Can you remind me what time of year it is? Wreaths for Veterans is getting ready for their annual wreath placement during the holiday season. The organization places thousands of wreaths on the graves of veterans. Mariah Wakes from Huntsville News has more details on how the community can get involved. This year, Wreath Prep Headquarters is in a different location, but their mission remains the same. They need to put together 1,000 wreaths and will need more help every day.

Helpers will be busy making sure wreaths are prepared to place on veterans’ graves throughout Huntsville. Over the past 12 years, the group has received assistance from local businesses and schools to decorate the wreaths.

However, additional volunteers are always appreciated, especially since they aim to place 500 more wreaths this year. Volunteers are needed for fluffing up the wreaths, checking their condition, ensuring each one has a tag, boxing them, and more. Many volunteers find it meaningful to remember those who have served during the holiday season.

Being here to support them is a great honor. The wreaths bring solace to cemeteries and graves, and I feel fortunate that I am still able to physically and mentally contribute. It doesn’t require any special talent, just caring for those who made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. You can find the organization from Monday, November 6th through Thursday, November 9th, between 9:30 AM and 3:00 PM. This year, wreath preparation will take place at Huntsville City Schools Warehouse Number 2, located at the corner of 12th Avenue and 6th Street.”.
