A man from Woodland Hills has been arrested on federal charges for allegedly extorting protection money from karaoke businesses in Koreatown.

Daekun Cho is accused of using violence against those who refused to pay the monthly fee he demanded.

The charges against Cho include interference with commerce by threats or violence.

Homeland Security special agents and LAPD officers made the arrest this morning.

According to authorities, Cho would resort to extreme measures like shootings, carjackings, and kidnappings if the businesses did not comply with his demands.
