In a disturbing incident on the Akal Takht Express, a woman passenger was allegedly urinated upon by a Travel Ticket Examiner (TTE).
The incident occurred on the night of March 12, 2023, when the train was about to enter Charbagh railway station in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
The accused TTE, identified as Munna Kumar, was travelling as a passenger and was off-duty at the time of the incident.
The woman was sleeping on the lower berth of compartment A1 when Munna Kumar, who was sleeping on the upper berth, reportedly urinated on her head.
When the woman raised an alarm, other passengers caught hold of the accused and thrashed him.
The Lucknow Government Railway Police (GRP) later arrested the accused and an FIR was filed against him.
The husband of the victim, who hails from Bihar, alleged that the TTE was in a drunken state at the time of the incident and demanded strict punishment for him.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw condemned the incident and tweeted that such behaviour would not be tolerated on the railways.
He also removed the accused TTE from service with immediate effect.
The Railway’s removal order stated that the accused’s behaviour was “inappropriate” and that he had “completely disrespected” the female passenger.
The order also warned that any railway official found guilty of such acts would be terminated with immediate effect.
The incident has once again highlighted the issue of public urination, which has been on the rise in recent times.
The incident on the train has shocked and outraged the public, with many demanding stricter laws and better enforcement to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
