Whoopi Goldberg, co-host of “The View,” was among the celebrities who attended the ceremony for the reopening of Hinchliffe Stadium in Paterson, New Jersey.
The stadium underwent a $103 million renovation, which included the addition of a new parking garage, food court, preschool, affordable housing units, and a museum.
Hinchliffe Stadium holds significant historical value as one of the last Negro League ballparks in the United States.
Goldberg emphasized the importance of preserving this history, stating that no history should be erased.
She emphasized the need for people, especially children, to understand and remember the past, as every color in this country has participated in our collective history.
Following its renovation, the stadium will now serve as the home to a minor league baseball club.
