A group of volunteers known as “Idiots with Chain Saws” are making progress in clearing Fish River in Alabama for boaters and kayakers.

They have completed a three-mile stretch of work from Bohemian Park at County Road 48 to Red Barn Road in Fairhope, which was done by going in boats and waiting in neck-deep or deeper water.

Despite the danger of venomous wildlife, they are committed to making the river usable for families and future generations.

They are grateful for the supplies provided by other volunteers, such as the Pirates of Fish River.

The group hopes that the river will be back to its original state in a couple of years.
