It is crucial for people to understand that the reason we are here today is because of the sacrifices made by individuals throughout history, particularly those who served in the Civil War. We owe our freedoms to the veterans, and they deserve continuous recognition. Herman Borgart explains that it is because of their past actions that we can enjoy the privileges we have today. While only a few fortunate individuals like Charles Bender have been identified and reconnected with our community, many others remain nameless.
It is essential for us to know and acknowledge all those who were here, as each person deserves to be remembered by their name, not just a number.
