In 2023, the race for mayor in Bridgeport, Connecticut has caused quite stir. Voters are unsure of who the next mayor will be as a result of a controversial primary election. Incumbent Joe Ganon and Challenger John Gomes are the two democratic candidates in this abnormal race.

Ganon initially won the September 12th primary, but a new primary was ordered due to claims of Ballot Box stuffing. Despite the uncertainty surrounding the outcome, the general election is still moving forward.

Security footage showed workers stuffing absentee ballot collection boxes, leading to the order for a new primary. Both campaign workers and voters in Bridgeport are passionate about the election, with some calling for a legitimate result.

Gomes, who is on today’s ballot on the independent line, accuses his opponent of engaging in unethical behavior. The mayor claims that all rules and regulations are being followed, and additional measures are being taken to ensure transparency. The different scenarios that could unfold include Gomes becoming the next mayor if he wins on the independent line, another Democratic primary if Ganon wins, Ganon remaining mayor if he wins, and another general election if Gomes wins the primary. The polls close at 8:00 p.m..
