In the midst of the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, the Ukrainian Army has continued its historic resistance.
Thanks to the ICEYE spacecraft, purchased with donations from Ukrainians, the Ukrainian Army has gained a significant advantage.
Using the “People’s Satellite,” Ukraine has been able to detect and destroy thousands of pieces of Russian equipment.
The satellite was first used by Ukrainian defense intelligence on September 24th, 2022, and since then, Ukraine’s security and military have had daily access to the information they need from space.
Over the past five months, members of the Ukrainian defense intelligence have conducted space-radar reconnaissance in approximately 1,000 locations where Russian military units have been deployed in temporarily occupied areas and other areas of interest to the Ukrainian armed forces.
Since the Ukrainian Army started using the satellite, it has detected and destroyed 7,321 pieces of Russian military and special equipment, including 45 airplanes, 27 helicopters, six Skander mobile short-range ballistic missile systems, 36S-300 anti-craft systems, 12 Panzer S1 missile systems, 11 radar stations, and 10 pontoon bridges.
Most of this equipment has been destroyed by the Ukrainian Army.
