A tragic hit-and-run incident occurred one week ago in Virginia Beach, where a two-year-old child was struck and killed by a white truck at the intersection of First Colonial Road and South Hall Drive.
The driver of the truck did not stop and fled the scene, but police later arrested 77-year-old Raul Santiago and charged him with felony hit-and-run.
Witnesses have come forward with their accounts of the incident, including Kyle Ashley, who saw the truck hit the child and immediately called for help.
Ashley and other witnesses expressed their sympathies for the child’s family and urged drivers to be more cautious around pedestrians.
A memorial of flowers, stuffed animals, and toys has been set up at the scene of the tragedy.
