Turkeys were quickly distributed this morning at the food bank of Northern Indiana. The food bank generously provided 500 turkeys to families in need, causing a long line of cars waiting to receive them.
This was part of WNDU’s turkeys on the table challenge, and within the first 45 minutes, 300 delicious birds were given away. Among the volunteers was former Notre Dame women’s basketball coach, Muffet Mcra.
She has been involved with the food bank for approximately 20 years, and even started her own food drives during the pandemic to help those in the community. There are countless individuals who are eager to lend a hand, so please call the food bank and consider volunteering your time. Throughout this year’s campaign, a total of 7,500 turkeys will be distributed to families in need..
