Trooper Survives After Semi Truck Crashes into Patrol Car on I-90

A trooper in South Dakota is counting his blessings after surviving a horrific crash on I-90.

The incident occurred between Hartford and Sioux Falls on the eastbound lanes of the highway.

The trooper was in his vehicle at the time, doing traffic control for another crash ahead, when a semi truck hit the back of his patrol car.

The impact of the collision was so severe that the semi truck ended up resting on top of the patrol car with the lights still flashing.

The Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.

According to Captain Adam Ziska, the trooper was extremely lucky to have survived.

Other troopers on the scene helped the crash victim, who was later transported to a hospital in Sioux Falls.

The driver of the semi was issued a citation for overdriving the road conditions.

The crash serves as a reminder for all drivers to always be prepared and aware of their surroundings while on the road.

Cisco, a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office, said that the road conditions on the Interstate deteriorated throughout the day, and some parts of the highway were not easily accessible.

He emphasized that a crash like this is preventable, and urged drivers to slow down, keep their lights on, and pay attention to what they’re doing.

Despite the severity of the crash, the trooper walked away with only minor injuries.

The incident highlights the importance of exercising caution and common sense when driving in adverse weather conditions.
