A tragic incident has occurred in Sumter, leaving three children and two adults dead in a domestic dispute.
According to Sumter police, Charles Slacks Jr., the ex-husband of a woman in the Woodridge subdivision, entered her home using a key and proceeded to shoot her male co-worker in the backyard.
Slacks then went inside the house where his two children and one stepchild were sleeping upstairs and fatally shot all three kids before taking his own life.
The woman, who called 9-1-1, survived the incident but is reportedly distraught.
All three men, including the co-worker who was killed, were connected to Army Central at Shaw Air Force Base, and the entire community is feeling the loss.
Chief Russell Roark stated that the investigation is ongoing and no motive has been determined yet.
The police have not yet released the name of the male co-worker who was killed as they are trying to notify his next of kin.
