In a tragic incident, a woman was discovered dead inside a house fire with gunshot wounds in Chicago.

The unsettling discovery was made when officers on patrol noticed a small fire on the side of a house in the 6400 block of South Damen Avenue around 12:45 a.m.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and found an unresponsive woman near the back of the house.

The victim, identified as a 32-year-old woman, was immediately transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center.

Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
