A roof was blown off a home in Barefoot Bay, while strong winds damaged carports in the area.

The Red Cross is assisting the family affected by the roof loss.

In addition, lightning struck a boater near the Pineda Causeway and US One, resulting in the boater’s death.

Officials believe the lightning strike occurred earlier tonight.

No injuries were reported from the strong winds in Barefoot Bay.

The National Weather Service will assess the situation tomorrow.
