The high school baseball and softball playoffs continued in Texas and New Mexico, showcasing thrilling games and outstanding performances.

In the baseball B District round, Hanks hosted Canutillo in a nail-biting showdown.

While Hanks had the lead, the Eagles rallied in the sixth inning, with Paul Zuniga’s single tying the game.

Enrique Guerra’s subsequent hit to center field allowed Justin Nicks to score the go-ahead run.

Ultimately, Canutillo emerged victorious with a 2-1 win, securing their spot in the next round.

In another Class A baseball bidistrict clash, Ysleta faced off against Burges.

Matthew Galvan’s double in the top of the seventh inning scored a run for Ysleta, giving them a four-run lead.

However, Burges mounted a comeback, forcing extra innings with Mark’s double and two runs.

Despite Burges’ efforts, Ysleta ultimately triumphed with a 17-2 victory.

Continuing with high school baseball playoffs, Riverside hosted Mountain View in the Class A bidistrict round.

In the top of the fifth inning, Adrian Estrada’s ground-rule double extended Riverside’s lead.

They won Game 1 with a score of 10, and Game 2 with a score of 11, securing their place in the upcoming area round.

Meanwhile, in Class A bidistrict action, Fabens clashed with Bowie in the hopes of advancing to the area round.

Diego Medina’s deep drive over the left fielder’s head resulted in a double, bringing in two runs for Bowie.

Bowie emerged victorious with a 17-2 win, sweeping the series and moving on to the next round.

In other baseball scores, Eastwood lost to Frenship 10-0 in Class A.

All other Class A teams will resume their games tomorrow.

In Class A, Del Valle won their series against Chapin, while Horizon is in a favorable position after one game against El Paso High.

Clint won both games against Austin, securing their advancement, as did Tornillo in their series.

Shifting gears to Texas high school softball, the area playoffs in Class 5A saw Hanks defeating Abilene 6-0.

With a win in the next round, Hanks can secure a spot in the regional quarterfinals.
