TikTok CEO Shou Chew was questioned by California Representative Raul Ruiz about what measures the company has taken to combat misinformation targeting Spanish-speaking users on the platform.
As the chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, Ruiz had reached out to TikTok in the past about this issue.
Chew acknowledged the importance of the Spanish-speaking population on the platform and stated that they have many Spanish-speaking moderators.
He did not provide specific numbers for Spanish-speaking versus English-speaking staff focused on misinformation, but assured Ruiz that dangerous misinformation is moderated regardless of language.
