Three men who were killed in a crash on Rock Creek Parkway in Northwest D.C.

have been identified by the police.

The victims were passengers in a Lyft ride that was hit by a Lexus, whose driver was fleeing the police.

The Lyft driver, Muhammad Kamara, was 42 years old and lived in Burtonsville.

The two passengers were Jonathan Cabrera Mendez, 23, and Olvin Therese Velasquez, 22, both from Arlington.

The woman who was also in the Lyft ride was critically injured, while the man had non-life-threatening injuries.

The police say that the crash remains under investigation.

The Lexus that hit the Lyft ride had over $12,000 in outstanding moving violation tickets.

Lyft has expressed its condolences and is cooperating with law enforcement.

Council member Brook Pinto has called for a more serious look at ways to make the roads safer if a vehicle has multiple outstanding tickets.
