Texas officials are warning spring breakers not to travel to Mexico due to the ongoing violence throughout the country.
This comes after the recent abduction of four Americans, two of whom were murdered, in dangerous border towns.
In addition, three women from the McAllen area who went to sell items at a flea market have disappeared and haven’t been seen in weeks.
The State Department has issued its highest level 4 designation, “do not travel,” for six states in Mexico.
However, popular tourist destinations like Cabo and Cancun are at level 2, which is the same category as most of Western Europe, including England and France.
Despite this, some families are still planning trips to coastal destinations in Mexico, while others are opting for warmer locations where safety is not a concern.
With spring break just hitting its peak, there are fresh warnings and a wave of questions about the safety of traveling to Mexico.
