A Fulton City school district teaching assistant and varsity coach for the girls’ cross country team has been arrested on child pornography charges.
Joshua Demars, 37, was arrested yesterday morning by State Police.
Police found pictures and videos on Demars’ cell phone and computer depicting sexual exploitation of children.
Investigators do not believe any students were victims.
In other news, 36-year-old Kevin Haynes of Clay died yesterday in a car crash in the town of Gettys.
Haynes went off the road and hit a culvert around 4:30 am on the westbound 690 off-ramp to John Glenn Boulevard.
Skaneateles police are asking for help in identifying the people who vandalized part of the village on Saturday night.
The vandals spray-painted a number of messages on sidewalks, roadways, and street signs, including anti-semitic graffiti on School District property and in Austin Park.
In sports news, the West Hill boys’ basketball team won its sixth state title over the weekend, defeating Catholic Central in the Class B State final.
The Warriors will now play in the Federation tournament next weekend.
Finally, the SC women’s basketball team is set to play in the second round of the WNIT, and the Orange will pay a visit to Seton Hall in Jersey with tip-off set for 7 pm, which can be streamed on the Big East digital Network.
