Phoenix Police have announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with the murder of 29-year-old Lauren Heike on a North Phoenix hiking trail.
The arrest was made in a Scottsdale apartment complex in close proximity to the trail.
Heike’s parents made an emotional plea for help just one day prior to the arrest.
The suspect, a man in his twenties, is currently being questioned at police headquarters.
More information is expected to be released as the investigation continues.
Witnesses reported seeing several police vehicles and undercover vehicles surrounding the building where the suspect was detained and arrested.
One witness even caught the arrest on video while walking her dog.
This news comes as a relief to Heike’s family and the community, who have been eagerly awaiting justice for her tragic and senseless death.
