A stolen camera is transmitting live footage from inside a burglar’s home, providing crucial evidence for Milwaukee police.
The camera was stolen during a burglary last week at a home near 74th Street and Silver Spring Drive, along with $8,000 worth of tools.
The burglars were unaware that the camera was hidden and still transmitting, and it is now being used to capture footage of people using drugs and discussing the sale of stolen items.
Despite the video evidence, no one has been criminally charged yet.
The battery-operated camera uses the cellular network, and Milwaukee police are using the footage to help make an arrest.
The real estate broker who witnessed the theft called the incident “disheartening” and hopes that justice will be served.
