Meanwhile, the weather in the area is expected to warm up modestly mid-week, with temperatures reaching the 80s on Wednesday and the mid-80s to lower 90s on Thursday (lower at the Island).
However, a cold front will sweep through the area late Thursday night into Friday morning, bringing below-normal temperatures for the weekend.
There may also be some showers and thunderstorms associated with the cold front.
Rip current risk will remain moderate to high throughout the period, and there is a possibility of more showers over the weekend.
On Thursday, a shortwave will move through the Desert Southwest, getting wrapped up in a larger meridional trough in the northern Plains.
As a result, a strong surface low will form across Kansas with a cold front racing south out of the panhandles of Oklahoma and Texas.
Ahead of the cold front, there will be warm and breezy to windy conditions on Thursday, with temperatures reaching the 80s and 90s, and south to southeasterly winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
