A man accused of hitting a Sarasota police officer with his car and fleeing the scene has been arrested in South Florida.

According to a news release from the department, 22-year-old Mark Thomas was apprehended at a probation office in Broward County.

Thomas is facing felony charges including aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer.

He has had several previous arrests from 2019 and 2021.

The police officer who was hit is reportedly doing well.
