South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has released new information about the investigation into the death of Stephen Smith, which is now being considered a homicide.
Smith was found dead on a Hampton County road in 2015 and his death was initially ruled a hit and run.
However, after the deaths of Maggie and Paul Murdoch, SLED reopened Smith’s case.
SLED has assigned more agents to the investigation and agreed to work with Smith’s family to exhume his body for a private autopsy.
Alec Murdoch’s oldest son, Buster Murdoch, who went to school with Smith, released a statement denying any involvement in his death.
