Michael May named new superintendent of Martin County School District Police Activity and Road Closure on Evergreen Way in Everett Following Deadly Incident

Franklin High School in Portland, Oregon has canceled classes on Friday due to reports of shots fired near the campus.

According to sources, the incident took place just a block from the school, but no students or staff were injured.

The Portland Public Schools’ Enhanced Community Safety Team is investigating to determine if the incident is connected to Franklin’s students.

The school district is concerned about the safety of the students and staff, as there have been several other traumatic incidents in recent months, including a shooting outside the school’s gym and a student’s suspected fentanyl overdose.

The decision to cancel classes will give staff an opportunity to learn how to best serve the students when they return to the building.

While classes were canceled, the building was not entirely closed to students, as staffers were present to talk to anyone who wanted to come in.
