Seven Fishermen Charged with Tax Evasion in Rhode Island and Massachusetts
Seven fishermen, including two from Rhode Island and four from Massachusetts, have been charged with tax evasion and failure to file tax returns, according to a statement released by the US Department of Justice (USDOJ).

The fishermen are primarily based out of New Bedford and Point Judith.
The indictment alleges that some of the defendants did not file or pay their taxes for a decade or more, despite earning significant income.

The fishermen were each making up to $900,000 and close to $2 million in income.
The USDOJ has warned that those who evade taxes will be held accountable for their actions.

The fishermen now face possible jail time if convicted.
