Seoul National University Hospital Data Breach Traced Back to North Korean Hackers

The National Investigation Headquarters has revealed that the personal information leak of 830,000 employees and patients from Seoul National University Hospital, which occurred two years ago, was carried out by a North Korean hacking organization.

According to the National Investigation Headquarters, the breach was attributed to the hacking techniques employed by North Korean hacking groups, including the identification of IP addresses connected to the server and IP address laundering.

They confirmed that these techniques matched those used by previous North Korean hacking operations.

The investigation team has identified Kim Suk-hee, a prominent suspect known for hacking Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, as a highly probable suspect involved in the data theft.

They believe that the motive behind the attack was to obtain the personal information of key figures who received medical treatment at Seoul National University Hospital.

In another case, three women in their 20s and 30s have filed a sexual assault complaint against JMS church leader, Pastor Jeong Myeong-seok, who is already facing trial on charges of sexual assault.

The women claim that they were sexually harassed by Jeong between 2018 and 2019 at the Wolmyeongdong Training Center in Geumsan County, Chungcheongnam-do.

It has been reported that a German national who was also a follower of the JMS church is preparing for legal action.

With these new complaints, a total of nine women have now accused Jeong of sexual assault and harassment.

Meanwhile, in Kenya, local media reports revealed that during the autopsy of 113 deceased followers who had followed a false religious leader instructing them to fast to meet Jesus, evidence of organ removal was found.

According to the police, some of the bodies showed signs of strangulation or assault, with organs forcefully extracted.

Investigators involved in the case believe that the trafficking of human organs was carried out systematically.

They made this assessment based on the documents submitted to the court by the police.

In another tragic incident, a 9-year-old child was fatally hit by a city bus while making a right turn at an intersection in Kwonseon-gu, Suwon City, around 12:30 pm today.

The accident occurred in a designated children’s safety zone, and the victim was on the way home with friends.

Although the pedestrian signal was green and the right turn signal was red at the time of the accident, the bus driver failed to notice and caused the accident, according to the police report.

The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident based on witness testimonies and analyzing the black box footage.
