The SeaWorld Rescue Team made an all-hands-on-deck effort to try to save a sperm whale that washed up on a Carlsbad beach.
Despite the team’s best efforts, the whale did not make it.
The SeaWorld Rescue Team is a dedicated group of professionals who work tirelessly to rescue animals along the coastline.
They are responsible for gathering information about the animals, rescuing them, and rehabilitating them.
Less than 24 hours before attempting to save the sperm whale, the team worked to rescue a sea lion near Serenity.
The team’s end goal is to return the mammals to their natural habitat.
Even though the whale did not survive, the team’s efforts were commendable, and the community came together to help in any way they could.
SeaWorld is one of the largest marine animal rescue organizations globally, and they hit a milestone last year after rescuing 40,000 animals since the program began.
The team will conduct an animal autopsy or necropsy to gather information that can be useful for future rescues.
If you see an animal in distress along the coastline, you can help by calling the SeaWorld Rescue Team hotline.
