A local restaurant in Hawaii is expanding and opening new locations, which is seen as a positive sign for the industry.
The Outback Steakhouse in Hawaii Kai closed in February, but Brandon Mezurashi saw an opportunity to take over the space and open a second location of his Scratch Kitchen.
The new location has been met with success, with orders flying out of the kitchen during its opening weekend.
Mezurashi has plans to expand even more in the near future.
The restaurant has also provided new job opportunities for employees who thought they had lost their jobs when the Outback closed, and the Hawaii Restaurant Association has noticed positive trends in the industry, such as the price of fuel going down.
With Mother’s Day coming up, it is expected to give a push to new restaurants.
