San Diego County has agreed to pay $4.67 million in legal settlements to victims of sexual assault by Sheriff’s Deputy Richard Fischer.

The latest settlements come from two women who accused Fischer of groping them while he was on duty.

These cases are part of a larger investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct by Fischer, which has resulted in a total of 16 women coming forward with similar accusations.

Fischer was initially arrested in 2018 after a routine traffic stop on a rural road, but the investigation has taken two years to complete.

The victims and their attorneys have praised the settlements as a step in the right direction for holding law enforcement officers accountable for their actions.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department has not commented on the settlements or the investigation into Fischer’s misconduct.
