A landslide caused by heavy rains has forced the evacuation of four apartment buildings in San Clemente.

The incident occurred on the 1500 Block of Buena Vista, prompting authorities to ask other residents on the hillside to be prepared for evacuation as well.

The Orange County Fire Authority says the landslide made it all the way to the train tracks below, taking with it part of someone’s backyard and patio furniture.

Some residents were awakened by the landslide and were forced to leave with only essential items.

The hillside is still being monitored to prevent further movement.

The incident has caused a great deal of anxiety among the affected residents, who are uncertain when they will be allowed to return home.
