Dozens of civilians have been injured and killed in Russia’s latest missile attack on Ukrainian residential buildings.

The attack hit a dormitory in the capital city, Kiev, as well as an apartment block in the eastern city of Zaparisa.

Local officials reported that the attack on the apartment block killed one person and left dozens injured, while the attack on the dormitory killed seven people and injured ten.

Despite being far from the front lines, civilian casualties were still high.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zielinski condemned Russia’s attacks and promised a military, political, and legal response.

The attacks come as some of the most consequential diplomacy of the war wraps up in Moscow, with China’s leader Xi Jinping meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The meetings were notable for what wasn’t announced: China didn’t offer lethal aid to Russia’s war in Ukraine.
