Rowlett Police Seek Public’s Help in Finding Murder Suspect

Rowlett police are seeking the public’s help to locate a murder suspect identified as Virgil Allen Harris, a 40-year-old from Mesquite, Texas.

According to detectives, Harris is the suspect caught on tape in the murder that took place on February 26th behind some businesses in the 2100 block of Lakeview Parkway.

The victim, 22-year-old Carrie Cottrell, was killed in an altercation that occurred during a meeting for the purchase of drugs.

Harris was out on bond for aggravated robbery at the time of the murder and had failed to show up for his recent court check-in.

Police have located the vehicle he was driving, an orange Dodge Charger, but the registered owner is not cooperating with the investigation.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of Mr.

Harris.

Rowlett police are urging anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
