A long-standing restaurant in San Antonio’s northwest side, Bridge of Asians, will not reopen after being closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019.
The establishment suffered its third fire, which was particularly intense, resulting in the need to demolish the remains of the business on Wurzbach Road near Dana Point Drive.
The fire was reported this morning before 7 am, and fortunately, no one was inside the building at the time, and there were no injuries.
Fire crews are still investigating the cause of the fire.
In another tragic incident, a man lost his life after being struck by multiple drivers on the far west side of San Antonio.
The crash occurred around 5:40 am on West Military Drive near the intersection of Loop Boulevard, not far from JBSA Lackland.
According to the police, the man was walking in the middle of the street when he was initially hit by one driver.
Unfortunately, several other vehicles subsequently ran over him.
All the drivers involved stopped to offer assistance, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency crews.
Police are unsure why he was in the middle of the street.
On the southeast side of San Antonio, police arrested a man who was reportedly firing a gun randomly out of fear early this morning near a shopping center.
The incident took place near South New Braunfels and Fair Avenue.
Authorities believe the gunman was not targeting anyone in particular but was firing into the air and the sidewalk.
