Russian President Vladimir Putin has made his first trip to Ukrainian territory that was illegally annexed by Russia.

He visited the war-ravaged city of Maryopal, which is seen as a symbol of resistance against Russia.

This visit comes a day after Putin traveled to Crimea, which Russia annexed back in 2014.

These visits seem like an act of defiance, as the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for the Russian president accusing him of war crimes.

Chinese leader Xi Jinping is also scheduled to visit Moscow this week to meet with Putin, and the world will be watching to see what kind of friends Russia and China really are.
