Protesters gathered outside Santiago Elementary School in Santa Ana to show support for Jasmine Harris and her daughter, Paris, who was allegedly targeted by racist comments from another student.
The incident occurred earlier this month and Harris claims that school officials did not take the incident seriously enough.
The school district has hired a law firm to investigate the allegations made by Harris and to ensure the rights of all students and families are protected.
While Harris had supporters at the school, some were unhappy that she shared the name of the 10-year-old Latino boy who allegedly made the remark on social media during a livestream.
The school district did not confirm whether any punishment had been given to the student due to state laws.
Harris has stated that she will be pulling her daughter from the school.
The Santa Ana Unified School District has emphasized their commitment to promoting inclusivity and supporting the well-being of all students.
