Portugal is installing a floating solar power plant in a reservoir as part of its efforts to increase the use of renewable energy.
The solar power plant will have the capacity to generate 220 MW of electricity, making it the largest floating solar power plant in Europe.
The project will use around 840,000 solar panels to generate electricity, which will be enough to power around 100,000 homes.
This move is a significant step towards achieving Portugal’s goal of producing 80% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2021.
