Two individuals are in critical condition following a devastating incident at the Gaylord Rockies Resort, where part of an HVAC system collapsed in the pool area.

Aurora Fire Rescue reported that a total of six people were injured in the incident, with two of them sustaining life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the collapse is still unknown, and investigations will be carried out by the resort management.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:50 a.m.

this morning, while Aurora firefighters were conducting training exercises inside the resort.

Eight firefighters were already present in the building, engaging in physical training by running up and down the stairs, when they received an emergency call regarding a structural collapse in the pool area.

Responding swiftly, they discovered that a component of the air conditioning system had fallen into the pool.

At the time of the incident, an estimated 50 to 100 people were present in the pool area.

To ensure the safety of both the victims and the firefighters, a technical rescue team was deployed to handle the situation.

The rescue team had to navigate the threat of falling debris and mechanical systems while providing assistance to those affected.

Some of the injured individuals suffered crush injuries, and a total of six people were harmed, including two with life-threatening conditions.

Immediate measures were taken to isolate the affected area and eliminate any additional threats.

Aurora Fire Rescue and the Gaylord Rockies Resort worked together to secure the scene until a thorough investigation could be conducted.

A witness, who happened to be present at the resort during the incident, shared photos on social media, recounting the terrifying moment when the HVAC system collapsed.

Fortunately, her son narrowly escaped harm.

The Gaylord Rockies Resort has yet to release an official statement regarding the cause of the collapse.

Although the pool had reportedly been closed for maintenance in the previous week, it remains uncertain if the incident is related to the maintenance work or if the pool had been reopened since then.

The resort has directed all inquiries to Aurora Fire Rescue for the time being.

As the investigations progress, authorities and the resort management aim to determine the underlying causes of this tragic event.

The quick response of the firefighters already on the scene and the subsequent coordination between emergency responders and the resort staff were instrumental in ensuring the safety of the guests and minimizing the extent of the injuries.
