High School Basketball Star Mikey Williams Arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon
Mikey Williams, a star high school basketball player committed to play at Memphis University, was arrested on five counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
The San Diego sheriff’s office stated that a fight inside Williams’ home about guests being inside led to a group of five people leaving the property.
As that group left in a vehicle, it was shot at.
A drone captured video of an SUV with a broken windshield from what looks like gunshots.
James Heald, a man who owns a house next to Williams’ property, saw police storm the basketball star’s home on Thursday.
He said he saw some unmarked cars and five minutes later, three more sheriff’s cars came and stood right next to his house.
Heald says he has seen a group of teenagers coming and going from Williams’ house often, and the high school basketball star almost bought his house.
He also says he has never had a problem with Williams, and he seemed like a nice guy.
Many students at Mikey Williams’ high school are talking about this arrest, and it is now making headlines across the country.
The 18-year-old’s future is uncertain after being booked on five counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
Williams’ attorney stated that his client maintains his innocence and that there are false narratives about the team going around online.
He also says in the statement that his client will be cooperating with the criminal process.
The teenager is set to appear in El Cajon court next Thursday.
Williams’ arrest has disappointed many of his peers at San Ysidro High School, who believed he had a promising career.
