We have been at this location all day, and detectives from the Peoria Police Department have been here even longer, 17 hours to be precise. Behind me is the house where the shooting occurred, and you can see the lights from the police units.
Residents in the neighborhood are feeling uneasy knowing that the suspect is still at large. They are questioning why this happened and hoping for the arrest of the responsible person.
The neighborhood was peaceful and calm until early Saturday morning when a shooting turned it into a crime scene. It is a reminder that such incidents can happen anywhere, which is quite alarming when it happens next door.
According to the Peoria police, a woman in the house was shot and managed to call 911 around 4:30 am. Unfortunately, her husband was found dead when officers arrived. The wife was taken to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries.
The couple had only recently moved into the area, making the situation even sadder. Detectives are working diligently, conducting interviews with neighbors and family members in an effort to gather as much information as possible. The motive behind the shooting remains a mystery.
Neighbors are understandably concerned for their safety and hope that the suspect is apprehended soon. The detectives have spent 17 hours searching the neighborhood, reviewing security footage, and questioning witnesses. They urge anyone with information to contact the Poria police.
