The Pajaro community in California is in a state of uncertainty as they wait for clearance to return to their homes following flooding.

County leaders say it is still too early to determine when people can return home, and that they are planning to section the community into zones to allow people to return gradually.

The inspection process is expected to be intensive, with CALFIRE disaster inspection crews going door-to-door to assess damages.

Once their findings are complete, the health department will inspect water quality.

Officials are asking residents to be patient as any place that had water is considered contaminated.

Many families in the Pajaro community feel helpless and unheard as they wait for news.
