14-Year-Old Boy Hospitalized After Pit Bull Attack in Virginia Beach, Owner Faces Charges
A 14-year-old boy in Virginia Beach was hospitalized with serious injuries after being attacked by a neighbor’s pit bull.
According to reports, the incident took place yesterday afternoon on Richard Road.
The owner of the dog now faces several charges.
The victim’s mother, Kendra Kidd, spoke with WAVY’s Raven Payne and revealed that her son had to undergo surgery to reconnect parts of his right ear, as well as having lacerations on his head and bite marks on the right side of his body.
Security footage provided by a neighbor shows the moments leading up to the attack, with the boy appearing cautious of the pit bull before it charged at him.
Two of the victim’s neighbors reportedly jumped into action, with one attempting to remove the dog from the boy using a pole and the other putting the animal in a headlock.
Virginia Beach police responded to the incident around four minutes later.
Kidd expressed gratitude that her son survived the attack and is set to be released from the hospital later today.
She also thanked one of the neighbors who helped save her son’s life, hugging him tightly and expressing her appreciation.
In a coming interview with 10 on your side at five, Kidd discusses how the dog’s behavior was completely unexpected.
