An Owensboro man has been handed the longest sentence yet in relation to the Capitol riot that occurred on January 6, 2021.
Peter Stager, who attacked police officers with pepper spray and a chair as he stormed the U.S.
Capitol with his wife, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison.
This sentence is the longest so far among the hundreds of Capitol riot cases.
Prosecutors had initially recommended a prison sentence of 24 years, but the judge ultimately decided on the lesser sentence.
Stager briefly addressed the judge during his sentencing, expressing regret for the damage caused to so many people.
Meanwhile, an unnamed image man has been arrested after police say they expect issues, but did not provide further details.
