Authorities in the Urabá region of Antioquia have seized 1,618 kilograms of cocaine hidden in banana boxes destined for Belgium, according to the police.
The illegal shipment is valued at more than 200 million pesos.
The police were assisted by their canine units in the operation.
The Gulf Clan, a notorious criminal group, is known to operate in the region.
The criminals appeared to be using fruit as a cover for their illegal activities, a tactic which has been used in the past.
Bananas are the main source of income for the region.
