Today marks the one-year anniversary since Dreyfuss School of the Arts in West Palm Beach went into lockdown following a tragic incident.
Roman Phelps, a 33-year-old man, crashed his van onto the school campus and was subsequently shot and killed by the police.
Phelps, a graduate of the school, had driven his van through the main gates while classes were in session.
Fortunately, no students were harmed, but he nearly hit a staff member before engaging in a struggle with a responding officer.
Due to the imminent danger posed by Phelps, the officer had no choice but to use lethal force.
In remembrance of Phelps, a rally will be held tonight in front of the West Palm Beach Police Department by those who knew and loved him, demanding answers regarding his death.
In other news, two US Postal workers were robbed at gunpoint in central Florida.
The US Postal Inspection Service has confirmed that some of the suspects involved in the robberies have been detained in Saint Lucie County.
The incidents occurred yesterday in Orlando and Melbourne, where the suspects demanded the postal workers surrender their arrow key, a universal key used to open lockers and collection boxes.
