Chaos erupted at the Acura Grand Prix in Long Beach on Sunday when a police officer shot an armed suspect outside of the event.

The incident caused panic among fans attending the race, who fled to safety as police moved in to apprehend the suspect.

The suspect was wounded but is now in police custody, and authorities believe he may be linked to three other shootings that occurred in the area over a four-hour period.

One person was injured in the earlier shootings but is expected to recover.

The shooting occurred near the intersection of Elm and Ocean, prompting police to shut down a portion of Ocean Boulevard while they investigated the incident.

Despite the chaos, no officers were injured in the shooting.

Security was a top priority at the popular Grand Prix, and police say they had a lot of resources in place to keep people safe.
