Tonight on 17 Crime Watch, a shocking arrest and job termination involving a police sergeant and an officer from Arvin and Bakersville respectively. A drug task force, while investigating a suspected Mexican drug dealer, conducted a raid on the shared residence of the two officers. The Kern County Sheriff’s Office and a collaborative agency drug trafficking task force carried out the narcotics investigation. Search warrants were executed at three locations associated with Francisco Beltron, a 47-year-old individual from Durango, Mexico.
Authorities discovered law enforcement equipment and a stolen gun linked to the Bakersville Police Department, resulting in Beltron’s arrest. However, the investigation didn’t stop there.
Another search warrant led deputies to the Bakersfield home of Sergeant Dilas Orano Reyes, a 36-year-old from the Arvin Police Department, and her 26-year-old roommate D’Angelo Sanchez from the Bakersville Police Department. Reyes, who was off duty at the time, was found in possession of a controlled substance and determined to be under its influence.
Furthermore, she had several firearms in her possession. Chief Gapore expressed his disappointment in the arrest of Reyes, stating that it has deeply affected the Arvin Police Department.
Reyes has since been released on bond and is scheduled to appear in court next week. The investigation also uncovered evidence of steroid possession by Sanchez, who has subsequently resigned from the police department.
The charges will be presented to the Kern County District Attorney’s office for further examination..
