Two inmates who had escaped from the Newport News City Jail Annex have been found and apprehended at a Hampton IHOP.
Arlie Nemo and John Garza had reportedly cut a hole through a brick wall using primitive tools such as a toothbrush and a metal object.
Once outside but still within the containment wall, they scaled a wall and fled to the nearby IHOP.
An employee recognized Nemo’s bald head from the news and alerted the authorities, who arrived and arrested both men without incident.
The inmates now face Escape charges and damaging property during an escape, along with other charges they were already facing.
The Newport News Sheriff’s Office is conducting an internal investigation to determine how the jail was compromised.
