Two inmates have been taken into custody after escaping from the Newport News City Jail Annex in Virginia, according to the local Sheriff’s Office.

John Garza and Arlene Nemo escaped before 6pm on Monday evening by tunneling through a cell wall and climbing over a security wall.

They were discovered missing at around 7:15 pm and were on the run until they were found 40 minutes ago.

Garza, from Hampton, had probation violations and was charged with contempt of court, while Nemo, from Gloucester, had charges of credit card fraud and grand larceny.

The two men are now back in custody.
