New Ukrainian-owned Coffee House Opens in Downtown San Diego

The coffee house, which has been open for just over a month, is the realization of a lifelong dream for Marina, the owner.
She recalls being scared when she first embarked on this venture, knowing the challenges that lay ahead.
Marina and her husband moved to San Diego from Ukraine four years ago, but their journey took an unexpected turn when her husband was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer last year.
As if that wasn’t enough, the war in Ukraine began, prompting Marina’s family to seek refuge with them in San Diego.
Despite facing overwhelming circumstances, Marina’s husband refused to let her give up on her dreams.
He pushed her to pursue her passion and reminded her of the importance of not giving up.
Sadly, it has been a year since his passing, but Marina believes that opening the coffee house has helped her survive during this difficult time.
Marina’s sister now works alongside her at the coffee shop, adding a unique touch to the establishment.
Customers are greeted with the coziest ambiance, freshly roasted beans, and even flowers from local farms.
Marina emphasizes that many customers are aware of their Ukrainian heritage and have been incredibly supportive.
To celebrate their roots, the coffee house offers a “Brave Latte” colored in blue and yellow, representing the Ukrainian flag.
A portion of the proceeds from this special drink goes towards benefiting families overseas, further exemplifying Marina’s commitment to helping others.
The Ukrainian-owned coffee house has quickly become a local favorite, with its attention to detail and welcoming atmosphere.
Marina’s determination to overcome adversity and pursue her dreams has inspired many in the community.
